Stone set on a carved koru ground-plate

A single stone rests at the centre of a spiral cut into the ground, the koru drawn in pale line against dark plate. The work reads from above and at eye level, made to sit in a shared public space and weather there for decades.

Work made for a place, and left to weather there.

Every commission begins with the site: what it is, who uses it, and what a piece needs to hold for the people who will live with it.
